Genband, PacketFront enable VoIP network for Alands Telefonandelslag

Genband, a developer of next-generation IP infrastructure solutions, has worked closely with PacketFront to transition local Finnish telecommunications operator Alands Telefonandelslag’s network to VoIP by providing connectivity at the border between the IP and TDM/circuit switched networks through its G2 Compact Gateway product line.

Genband informed that its G2 Compact Gateway brings voice traffic from V5.2 to MGCP, thereby maintaining the operator’s previous investment in their Ericsson AXE10 switch.

The company further informed that the G2 Compact Gateway is a carrier class, multipurpose gateway in an environmentally hardened, small form factor chassis.

Purpose-built for VoIP, the G2 uses the latest generation of advanced, all-in-one DSPs and platform architecture for VoIP and fax/modem handling.
